CARLTON LE WILLOWS SCHOOL & TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE

Carlton le Willows is a large and successful mixed 11-18 comprehensive school of around 1350 pupils, including approximately 250 sixth formers, situated in the district of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, not far from the River Trent.

Specialist schools are an important part of the Government's plans to raise standards in secondary education. The Specialist Schools Programme (SSP) helps schools, in partnership with private sector sponsors and supported by additional Government funding, to establish distinctive identities through their chosen specialism and achieve their targets to raise standards in all subjects. Carlton Le Willows is a Technology College, Technology Colleges focus on the specialist subjects of design and technology, mathematics and science.

The playing fields provide the school with extensive facilities for sport. The school has a running track, several rugby and football pitches and a cricket pitch.

The school is well resourced in relation to ICT. There are 7 computer rooms in the main school and specialist media suite fitted with Apple Mac machines. The sixth form have their own a computer suite for use during private study. The school is fully wireless networked and has almost 600 computers for pupil use. All teachers and departmental assistants have their own laptops and most classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and projectors.
