Short profile:
We first opened our doors as Cardigan Electronics In Chancery Lane, Cardigan, on Monday the 1st of September 1980. 2010 is our 30th Anniversary Year. I started the business in 1975 when I became self employed upon leaving the RAF after a 17 year engineering career on Radar and Guided Weapons. (Namely Firing Trials on the Bloodhound Firing Unit, BHFU, at nearby RAF & RAE Aberporth.) I initially worked from home servicing Colour TV and Hi-fi, which was somewhat of an anticlimax, and on the 1st of September 1980 opened my first shop here in Chancery Lane.
We sold Electronic components, TV’s and by 1981, Cardigan’s first Home Computers and Satellite TV etc. By 1987 we had outgrown our first little shop and moved into our current large premises when they came up for sale. About the same time I was approached by the Tandy Corporation to take on a RadioShack Dealership, and for the next decade became one of the busiest Tandy Dealers in Wales.
However, to survive the 1993-95’ recession we made major changes to the business, making it into the format we have evolved into today.
