Updated 2 months ago

Short profile:

The school was formed in 1961 and it takes its name from a much loved and respected Priest, Canon Patrick Palmer, who led the foundation of the Catholic community in and around Ilford. Four decades later, the school is a well-established co-educational comprehensive of 1, 260 pupils.

Detailed description:

The school has recently been designated as a specialist Science, Maths and ICT College by the department for Education and Skills. Canon Palmer is, first and foremost, a Catholic school serving the local Catholic community.

In the lower school we provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all students within the context of the National Curriculum. As a Catholic School, Religious Education has a special place within the curriculum. In the upper school (Years 10+11) all pupils are expected to take GCSE or vocational qualifications. They can take between 7 and 12 subjects. We offer an extensive range of A level, Applied A Level, and vocational courses in the sixth form.
