Detailed description:
Cambridge Refrigeration Technology Ltd is an independent company specialising within the field of refrigerated transport and environmental testing.
CRT's history goes back over 70 years.
The origin of CRT:
1937 Originally started as a part of Cambridge University, before the 2nd World War as: "The Low Temperature Research Station".
1945 Changed name to become: "The Refrigerated Cargo Research Council". Had offices in Falcon's yard in central Cambridge, now Lion Yard shopping centre.
1962 Changed name again to become a member-based research association called: "Shipowners Refrigerated Cargo Research Association" 'SRCRA'. Moved to custom built premises in Newmarket Road.
1966 Built our first environmental chamber for testing '20' containers'
1975 Built our second environmental chamber for testing '40' containers' and 13.6m trailers.
1993 Became "Cambridge Refrigeration Technology" as the trading arm of SRCRA.
2001 Became Cambridge Refrigeration Technology Ltd trading as a contract-based research development and environmental test organisation with a subscription-based information service.
Within the terms of the statement of memorandum of association of the company, CRT seeks to provide a recognised centre of excellence in the provision of technical services and information relating to refrigeration technologies especially for transport of perishable goods.
It aims to provide on this on a basis which provides value for money for all customers and RTIS / ICCT members.
Training has always been provided for CRT member organisations, but this has recently been expanded to provided courses for all comers.
CRT has, over the years, gained a particular appreciation of the needs of refrigeration users and specifiers; equipment manufacturers are also valued customers.
The training offered could be particularly valuable for the prevention of cargo claims and other contentious issues.
