Short profile:
The organisation is a small, local charity that provides a meeting place at two venues where children from separated families, living in the Cambridge and Ely areas, can enjoy contact with one (or both parents) and extended family members. The charity is a member of the National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC) and aims to follow its code of practice. The Centre is used by several families at the same time, so we have to ensure the safety of everyone and consideration for others.
Parents are responsible for the safety of their children at all times while at the Centre. No child may be left without a parent in attendance.
A Child Contact Centre is a safe, friendly and neutral place where children of separated families can spend time with the non-resident parent and sometimes other family members.
Detailed description:
It is a child centred environment that puts the needs of the children first. Contact Centres aim to provide short-term help and support towards re-establishing contact between child and visiting parents. The Centre is staffed by unpaid volunteers whose role is to welcome children and parents, serve light refreshments, and make contact an enjoyable experience for both child and parent. All records are strictly confidential.
Reports about contact visits are not supplied to the referring agency, or parents, except to confirm dates and times of attendance, if asked. The only exception to this policy is where a child's welfare is considered by the Co-ordinator to be at risk. You must provide a contact telephone number when leaving children at the Centre.
During contact, children may only be taken out of the Centre by the contact parent if written agreement has been provided by both parents in advance. For further questions or enquiries feel free to contact us at any time. We look forward hearing from you.
