Our craftsmen are trained through in-house courses and specialist courses around the country to help hone their skills. But much of their skill and expertise has been acquired through that irreplaceable factor - experience!

At C.E.L our priority is the sympathetic conservation and restoration of a building, maintaining its structural integrity. We have worked on dozens of restoration projects, nationwide and have become the principal contractor for many architectural practices.

Wherever possible, our craftsmen use the existing materials during the process of restoration. Our carpenters replace only those pieces of old timber that have completely rotted away - skilfully blending new timber with old using traditional joints.

Our policy of restoration and conservation is followed by our other specialist craftsmen, too. Our masons are expert at restoring crumbling, decorative stonework and then carving it back into its original features. Old lime plaster, falling from the walls of an historic building can be drilled and stabilised so it is structurally safe.

C.E.L is highly skilled in the use of all the main roofing materials. Whatever the job, you can rest assured that we will supply or source the most appropriate material for restoration or new-build work.

C.E.L undertakes work that ranges from repairing or replacing any part of a roof - including weather vanes and finials - to installing an entire roof on a new building.

Whether supplying and installing pipework and flashings, creating lead sheet for a bespoke roofing project to installing an entire copper roof, our work is always carried out to the highest industry standards. Our craftsmen are skilled in working with all the traditional roofing materials - from lead and copper to slate and tiles.
