Detailed description:
Royal Enfield motorcycles have been in continuous production for over 100 years, making them the longest running motorcycle brand in the world, and their success story is set to continue with the introduction of a brand new unit construction 500cc engine for 2009.
Unit construction means that the engine and gearbox are combined in one casing, (previous engines had a separate gearbox), and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) replaces the traditional carburettor. Power is increased to 27.5 BHP in standard form with 41.3 Nm of torque at 4000rpm.
The key differences from Enfield's of the past are:
Modified frame with new front forks and mudguard.
280mm single calliper front disc brake.
Much improved rear braking
Gas filled rear dampers.
Avon Super Venom and Roadrunner tyres.
Restyled panels, indicators and tank badges
Fresh colour schemes
Higher gearing than previous 500cc models.
