Bury MBC provides and supports a number of services for people of all ages in local communities. These range from youth centres and community groups to support for the elderly and community safety.

The council registers all births, deaths and marriages and can give advice and information on all types of marriage ceremony.

You will find contact details for over 1, 000 local clubs, organisations and other useful contacts for the Bury Metro area, including Prestwich, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom and surrounding areas, plus some national organisations where appropriate.

Education is the future of our community and therefore one of Bury council's most significant areas of work. Bury council provides education for nursery, primary and secondary school pupils, special school pupils, pupils excluded from mainstream schools and education for adults. Learning is at the heart of our community.

In 2004 Bury was the proud winner of 'Best Large Town in the North West' in the regional Royal Horticultural Society North West in Bloom Competition and was nominated to represent the region in the national Britain in Bloom competition in 2005.
