Short profile:

We provide over 100 services from childcare to countryside parks, schools to social care and from roads to registry offices. We work hard at the heart of your community to deliver essential services seven days a week, all year round. We provide services to every community in Buckinghamshire from over 500 locations.

Detailed description:

Local government can be either unitary or two-tier. Unitary councils, such as Milton Keynes, manage all local authority services in their area. The administrative region of Buckinghamshire is two-tier, with one County Council and four District Councils.

Buckinghamshire also has 165 parish/town councils which are independent and work at the most local level. We manage services such as trading standards, highways, social care, schools, libraries and household waste sites.

District councils run services including planning applications, environmental health, housing benefits, refuse collection, leisure services and council tax collection.
