Short profile:
BFM is a not-for-profit organisation which exists to assist families experiencing the practical consequences of separation and/or divorce. We cover the former 'Avon' area, ie Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset. We have offices in Bristol, Bath and Weston-Super-Mare. Bristol Family Mediation (BFM) provides mediation to separating or divorcing couples. Our mediators are trained and skilled in dealing with children's issues, and can if required involve children in the mediation process.
Detailed description:
Our primary task is to provide mediation for adults whose relationship has broken down and who wish to use mediation to make decisions or resolve disputes regarding property, finance and child issues. Our services are free to those who are eligible for legal aid, and sessional fees apply for all others. A description of our services can be found in our leaflet (general information) which together with our prices, and criteria for free mediation can be found in 'Information for Download'.
Our Annual Report is also available there, which shows a brief description of our mediators, as well as our total activity, funding, and Board. We also have the skills and experience for dealing with same sex relationships.
We have recently undertaken intergenerational mediation and mediation for the homeless, in conjunction with Bristol City Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council. We can provide intergenerational mediation to help families resolve issues or disputes between parents, children, grandparents etc.
