Well you know we are a Sure Start Children's Centre, but what does that mean exactly ? To start with the Sure Start Children’s Centre programme is based on the concept that providing integrated education, care, family support, health services and support with employment are key factors in determining good outcomes for children and their parents. The concept itself is not a new one. Sure Start Children’s Centres are about building on existing good practice, rather than starting afresh.
The Sure Start Children’s Centre model builds on principles developed, and lessons learned, through earlier Sure Start funded settings which are expected to become children’s centres over the next few years. A significant number of families with young children already benefit from good quality integrated services.
Sure Start Children’s Centres enhance these services and extend the benefits to more families — bringing an integrated approach to service delivery to areas where it is most needed.

Well in many ways it is, after all we all want the best for our kids. But what really counts is what you and your kids can get out of Sure Start - and THAT is the only thing that truly matters. After all if you are getting nothing out of us then why are we here? To give you some idea Braunstone Sure Start first opened in February 2004 and there have been a lot of changes since then. Most important has been YOUR input in getting us to know what we need to do to ensure your children get the absolute best start in life we can possibly offer.
That includes making sure YOU get the support that is out there when you need it. From day trips out for you and your kids, through to family support and drop in advice sessions, we are striving to ensure that every child in the local area has access to the very best in health care and developmental help. But it's not just about the kids, and that's what is so important here, its about YOU too.
We offer a huge variety of support services and training, and with our close links to numerous local providers we are confident that we can help you enjoy and achieve everything that parenthood offers. Oh and did we mention our Volunteer Programme? There is just so much going on here in Braunstone right now - please get involved!
