Detailed description:
At Beech House - an infant school where high standards, a warm, family atmosphere and an emphasis on fun go hand in hand. Our pupils and staff are all really excited about our recent move into our new, state-of-the-art Infants' School. I believe this to be a real investment in the futures of young people in the region. These outstanding new facilities allow pupils to utilise the very latest technology whilst enjoying our best traditions of high standards of care and achievement. At Beech House, we offer bright children the opportunity to develop their individual talents in a secure, caring environment and aim to give all our pupils a confident, happy start to school life. We value the different experiences and personalities of our children and enjoy watching them grow and progress through Bolton School.
We firmly believe that every child has talents and we try to provide as wide a variety of activities as possible so that every child can experience success. Our curriculum is carefully planned to give our children the skills and knowledge they need to become responsible, thoughtful young people. Beech House children move, at the age of seven, to the Girls' Junior School or to Park Road, the Boys' Junior School. Pupils in each of the Year Groups, 3, 4, 5 and 6, are based with Form Teachers who have responsibility for pastoral issues. There are two equal ability Forms per Year Group.
Pupils are encouraged to give of their best by the award of Merit Marks and participation in inter-House competition - there are four Houses. Recognition is made in School Assemblies of pupils' efforts and achievements by the presentation of appropriate individual and House trophies. Y3 pupils are taught predominately by their form teacher moving on to specialist teachers in Y4, 5 and 6. The provision of specialist teaching in specialist study areas leads to excellence throughout. In all subjects our standards match or exceed the requirements of the National Curriculum.
