Mr & Mrs
CaznMikeWas looking for phone number to book the Bluebell when I happened across this forum. Some excellent feedback -some awful. Decided to go along and see for ourselves. So glad we did, we had excellent service, delicious food and drink and the general ambiance of the place was great - overall a fabulous evening. Will definitely be back. Try it for yourselves. I think that people (myself included!) are quicker to complain and give negative feedback when there has been a problem than to give praise when everything is perfect. Anyway, place was full so assume people are letting the place speak for itself!

- Quizzical: I wouldn't get too excited though. Judging by their website they are offering exclusive hire of the venue. You might find that you turn up for a pint and some food and there is a wedding instead. Weird business decision.

Alicia cogWe were nearby for the weekend and this restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We were not disappointed. The food was lovely, steak was divine and the bar staff were really friendly. One word of warning though, book a cab for the way home ( we didn't and couldn't get one). Mind you the team were so friendly, we never felt that we had outstayed our welcome and the manager offered us a lift home - above and beyond the call of duty! I would recommend the Bluebell to anyone who likes great English food in contemporary surroundings - the menu was varied and the chefs were great. We'll definitely be back for more.

Sean KennyExcellent food, brilliant service, authentic beer and lovely company. Couldnt ask for more in the Derbyshire Dales and I would recommend to anybody. The Fillet steak is the best I have tasted. It was so tender, I could of teared it apart with my fingers. Superb!

Dantheman123My husband and I visited The Bluebell for lunch yesterday after a long walk over from Ambergate. I have to say i cannot understand some of the negative reviews about this pub. I went for the Bluebear steak and ale pie which was absolutely delicious; washed down with a very well kept Jaipur.
My husband had the roast Lamb which he said was also very fresh and tasty. We go to The Bear a fair bit and have to congratulate the owners on turning this place around. We will be returning with friends in the near future!

Judy SI visited The Bluebell for the first time in January 2011 and was quite knocked out by how good it is.It is great to find somewhere of quality that is open on Mondays for lunch. The decor is excellent, its warm and cosy in the bar areas with a wood burning stove and leather sofas. The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was of a very high standard, lasagne and lemon tart. I love The Bear at Alderwasley just a few miles away, so when I knew the Bluebell was now owned by the same family just had to visit. I have since been again for lunch, Scotch egg for starters, never had anything like that before, followed by fish and chips, most enjoyable.Very interesting menu with wide choices. Will be visiting again with a party of 6, cant wait to hear what they think.I would suggest people give it a try and not bother what reviews say, we would never go anywhere if we were influenced by other peoples preferences.
