There has been a Black Bull Hotel – or Inn – in the village square in Killearn for as long as anyone can remember and for centuries further back from then. Original features of the old 19th century coaching inn are still retained in the hallway and lounge bar. Today this beautifully appointed, quietly elegant hotel, renowned for its excellent service and exceptional cuisine, offers a wide choice of hospitality to locals, passing tourists and day visitors from Glasgow, as well as leisure and business overnight guests. Proprietors Daniel and Gillian Stewart are welcoming hosts and whether you wish to call by for Sunday lunch, tea and scones, dinner with friends, a drink in the bar or to reserve a bedroom for a few nights stay – the door is always open

Within easy reach of Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh, Killearn is an idyllic base for touring the whole of the central belt of Scotland and the ‘recently born’ Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Where could be better for a rewarding weekend or short break than on the doorstep of the world famous ‘bonnie banks’, surrounded by some of Scotland’s most magnificent and diverse countryside. Lochs and rivers, moors and mountains, beautiful forests and landscapes – the central belt has it all.
There are plenty of tourist attractions nearby. Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, Blair Drummond Safari Park, Glengoyne Distillery and the Trossachs towns of Aberfoyle and Callander are all within 30 minutes drive of Killearn. Great golf courses in spectacular settings, superb salmon and trout fishing, stunning walks and cycle paths of all grades are all ‘do-able’ in a day. For lovers of culture and the arts, Glasgow and Edinburgh offer rich pickings with wonderful theatres, museums and art galleries together with some fabulous shopping streets and malls.

jane simI thoroughly enjoyed my stay, found the room and facilities very clean and very good service, as well as very friendly and good hotel staff.
Proprietors are welcoming hosts and whether you wish to call to reserve a bedroom for a few nights stay, the door is always open.
