Detailed description:
The charming little town of Modbury is situated in the South Hams, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and is noted for its many Georgian buildings and its range of antique, craft and specialist shops. Modbury is within easy reach of Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Slapton, Dartmouth, Totnes and only 12 miles from the city of Plymouth. Whilst you are visiting, we encourage you to explore the beautiful countryside of the South Hams.
There are numerous signed walks, rights of way and bridle ways that can be explored on foot, on horse or bike. There is ample opportunity to go sea fishing, or trout fishing in our local rivers, including the Yealm and Aune (Avon).
These rivers are also migratory points for many birds. There are also several sandy, blue-flag beaches within a short drive of the town including Wonwell, Mothecombe, Challaborough and Bigbury-on-Sea.

Hazel RussellWe ordered Clam Chowder to start - it was like lumpy wallpaper paste - quite frankly inedible. The service was poor and I would not recommend this restaurant!
