All the Consultants also work from the Liver Transplant Unit based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Edgbaston. The liver unit in Birmingham has a world-wide reputation for innovation and excellence and is one of the biggest liver transplant units in Europe, offering expertise in all aspects of liver disease.
At your first appointment you will see a Consultant Hepatologist who will evaluate your problem and arrange appropriate investigations.

The Birmingham Liver Clinic offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for all liver conditions including abnormal liver function tests, alcoholic liver disease, hepatitis B and hepatitis C, fatty liver disease, metabolic liver disease, cirrhosis, liver cancer, primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, ERCP and hepatobiliary endoscopy. In addition the Clinic offers non-invasive Fibroscan assessments of liver fibrosis. We can provide for urgent assessment of acute liver complaints including the investigation and treatment of jaundice. The Birmingham Liver Clinic provides specialist treatment by experienced and approachable Consultants working with a team of surgical and radiological specialists.
We have clinics that offer you the choice and flexibility of afternoon or evening appointments. Our services provide support for patients with all forms of liver disease including alcoholic liver disease, hepatitis B and hepatitis C infection, fatty liver disease, metabolic liver disease, cirrhosis, liver cancer, primary biliary cirrhosis, primary sclerosing cholangitis and jaundice. In addition the clinic has experts in hepatobiliary endoscopy including ERCP.
