Birdwell Primary School is a vibrant and primary school in Long Ashton; priding ourselves on the quality of relationships and educating to the highest possible academic achievement.
Detailed description:
The school offers a range of extra curricular activities such as dance, rugby, football, cycling, athletics, netball, chess, recorders, jewellery making, cooking. There are many opportunities to develop music; for example this year all the year 3 pupils are learning recorder and all the year 4 pupils are learning ukele, whilst there are peripatetic teachers that provide tuition for many other instruments. Last year all children attended a residential visit and some older children went on a skiing trip to the French Alps.
Within the curriculum our projects involve first hand experiences many of which involve visits. Each class has its own raised garden and pupils plant, grow and harvest their own produce- linking other areas of the cuuriculum as they do so.
pupils are also working with a local farmer to develop sustainable habitats for wildlife within the school grounds. The school is developing Spanish in all classes and have a link with a Spanish school and with the local secondary school who supply us with a language teacher
