Its mission is to build the strength of the life sciences sector in Dundee and Tayside internally through partnership working, networking, knowledge and skills development, and externally promote and position the Dundee life sciences sector to relevant audiences as a centre of world class life science activity.
Detailed description:
Dundee, once known as the 'City of Discovery, is one of Scotland's major cities with a population of 143,000. Dundee is situated on the east coast of Scotland in a scenic location on the banks of the river Tay. When Stephen Fry was rector of the University of Dundee he commented that 'Dundee's setting is probably more extraordinary than any other city in Scotland or Britain.
It is about as ideal - ludicrously ideal - as any city setting could be.' Its central location commands excellent communication links through road, rail, air and sea. 90% of the Scottish population is located within a 90 minute drive, the city is placed on the main UK east-coast railway line, and has a city centre airport with daily direct flights to London City airport.
The city is large enough to offer the advantages of city life, but compact enough to offer real quality of life benefits such as short commuting times and easy access to beautiful unspoilt countryside, hills and coastline.
