The Newsletter, an A5 booklet, was first produced in August 1989, a 20-page stencil duplicated publication. Today it has doubled in size, includes photographs and wonderful illustrations by local artists and photographs, is formatted on a computer and printed by a digital risograph machine.
Detailed description:
Circulation is just over 450 copies, with some 100 plus readers on the mailing list and copies finding their Europe and Australia as well as all parts of the UK!
A bi-monthly publication [February, April, June, August, October and December], it is normally available on the Thursday nearest to the first of the month and kindly distributed with the daily papers by a Combe Martin newsagent.
Copies may also be obtained from the Post Office and the two pubs, as well as by contacting the Editor. Contributions are mainly from villagers, but all items and articles are equally welcome for inclusion, and these should be at the Post Office or with the Editor by the middle of the month preceding publication at the latest.
Self-financing, but with an annual grant from the Parish Council, Newsletter funds are raised from donations and, when necessary, coffee mornings. Advertising is kept to a minimum and local advertisers are asked to make a donation. Cheques should be made payable to the Berrynarbor Newsletter for payment into the account held in its name at Nationwide in Ilfracombe.
