Short profile:

In this most southerly part of rural Derbyshire, Beehive Farm Woodland Lakes offers visitors lots of fun ways to enjoy a very special corner of the National Forest. We've over 66 acres of woodland to explore with thriving wildlife, fishing lakes and a family-friendly petting farm. On our small farm you can meet our friendly farm animals including goats, donkey, Jess the pot-bellied pig, Percy the peacock, and our much loved FREE range rabbits! We also have a newly built sand pit, so bring your buckets and spades. If you're under 8 and full of energy, you can climb and slide around our playground. When you come, you will need to be with an adult and no dogs are allowed in the animal farm or playground. There are benches for the adults to sit on and when you've finished exploring, refreshments are available in the shop.

Detailed description:

In the heart of the National Forest and within easy reach of many great local attractions, Beehive Farm Woodland Lakes is a great place to stay over. Beehive Woodland Lakes is situated on the edge Rosliston Village, a many times winner of the East Midlands best in bloom competition. The local shop and post office provide all those essentials you need and there's a choice of pubs serving good food and Ale. Touring caravans, motorhomes and tents are welcome at The Beehive's attractively landscaped woodland site. With a selection of full hard standings, hard standing onto grass, grass with electric hook-up or grass without electric hook-up We are bound to have exactly what you need. All our pitches are spacious, so if you require electric, you'll need approximately 25 metre long hook-up cables. These are available to hire if needed. Lighting on our campsite is kept to minimum, not only to aid people to getting a good nights sleep, but so you can enjoy our beautiful night skies too - so don't forget to bring a torch! There's plenty of space for little ones to play in and enjoy, with the large open grass areas for ball games, which are viewable from our family pitches. The abundance of wildlife to be found around the site is always enjoyed by all, and if the truely wildlife is not enough, then how about visiting the farm? The Beehive Farm has goats, free-range rabbits, Percy the Peacock and Jess, our pot-bellied pig. Our play area and sandpit is also situated within the farm (small charge). There are also a number of great local attractions including themeparks, motorsports, museums and parklands. Many of our visitors find the Beehive is ideally situated to enjoy visits to Alton Towers, Historic Lichfield, Drayton Manor Park, Snow Dome, Conkers, Twycross Zoo, Uttoxeter Race Course, Donington Race Circuit, events at nearby Catton Hall and Park, Calke Abbey and the NEC.

I was extremely disappointed at the attitude towards dogs. This was the most unfriendly dog place I have ever visited. You can't ban all dogs just because one misbehaves. Whilst I understand children are not in the same category the same senario applies. They don't ban all children because most of them these days do not know how to behave. Will of course not be visiting the Beehive Tearooms or the walks there. My dog is extremely well behaved and I do follow reasonable doggy rules. Clean up after my dog, ensure he doesn't encroach anyones privacy and he is extremely obedient when out and about whether on the lead or off it.10/18/2010 2:06:21 PM
