We pride ourselves in creating a stimulating environment which helps our children to progress academically, socially, emotionally and physically to their maximum potential.
The staff work together to build a centre of excellence in which we aim to achieve high academic standards whilst ensuring that the special needs of all pupils are met.
The school is bright and attractive and is set in spacious grounds surrounded by a variety of trees and shrubs. There are two hard surface playgrounds and a large field used for dry weather playtimes, sports and recreation for the children.
The playground is securely surrounded by a fence which separates and protects the children from the car park.
The Nursery building has its own hard surface playground, a wildlife garden and a grass area with large play equipment.
Detailed description:
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum which is enhanced by a wide variety of visits to places of interest, theatre visits and by visitors coming into school. Ofsted judged curriculum provision to be outstanding.
Children in Years 5 & 6 have the opportunity to go on a PGL residential weekend in the summer term
There is a very wide range of lunch-time and after-school activities we offer football, netball, cross-country, rounders, cricket, games, chess, ICT, country dancing, jazzercise, karate, ocarina, choir and book clubs.
Some children learn to play a musical instrument, mainly clarinet and guitar
Members of the choir sang in the Harpenden Spring Festival and the Rotary Carol Concert
The pupils are active fund raisers, raising money for Love in a Box and the local Grove House hospice this year
The school has a hall at its centre which is used for PE, assemblies and all school productions. The classrooms are well resourced with equipment for all areas of the curriclum including a wide choice of books and computers. The pupils take pride in their displayed work and they help to shape the school environment by making themed classroom corners and creating art displays in the hall and entrance.
