Short profile:
Your constabulary is ready to rise to the challenge of policing 21st century Suffolk.
We aim to ensure that our beautiful county remains one of the safest in which to live and work.
Suffolk Police is divided into two areas - East and West; within these areas are seven districts which provide local policing services.
Overseeing the Constabulary’s work is the Suffolk Police Authority, which exists to ensure that the county’s residents are offered an efficient and effective policing service
Detailed description:
Preventing crime forms a major part of Suffolk Constabulary’s work in the community.
Crime causes a great deal of misery to its victims. Suffolk Constabulary - often in partnership with other agencies - has launched a number of initiatives aimed at deterring offenders and cutting crime.
But there is one vital ingredient needed to make these initiatives a success - your participation.
We want to get our messages to you... Our crime prevention advice is there to help you join us in a partnership against the criminals.
However, we understand that to reach the widest audience possible, we need to brand and market our advice to make it both recognisable and accessible. That’s where our campaigns come in.
Every campaign run by Suffolk Constabulary has a central message - whether it is in the area of cracking down on drugs or combatting motor crime.
Suffolk Constabulary is committed to tackling domestic violence by working in conjunction with various partners.
Domestic violence and abuse is a pattern of behaviour designed to establish and maintain power and control over another person.
Research suggests that if left unchallenged it is likely to escalate in frequency and severity, and can lead to murder.
Suffolk Constabulary, in conjunction with various partners, is working hard to stamp out unruly, anti-social behaviour, which can cause misery to many residents.
Anti-social Behaviour is defined as ‘behaviour by a person which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more other persons not of the same household as the perpetrator’.
The definition describes the consequences of the behaviour as opposed to the behaviour itself, which can be quite wide ranging and includes: verbal abuse, vandalism, noise nuisance, writing graffiti and smoking or drinking alcohol while under age.
