Detailed description:
At Battersea Preventive Dental Practice, we offer a full range of dental treatments, from check-up examinations and tooth-coloured fillings through to advanced restorative and cosmetic dentistry. We have a strong focus on preventive dentistry - helping you to avoid potential by having and maintaining healthy teeth and gums. The key to having healthy teeth and gums is to take good care of them, both at home and by visiting us regularly for check-ups and hygiene appointments. Our hygiene appointments can make a big difference to your oral health. During these we give your teeth a professional deep clean including cleaning between them and below the gum line. This removes plaque, a constantly forming thin and sticky layer of bacteria which can irritate the gums and cause gum disease.
Initial symptoms of gum disease include bad breath and sore, swollen or bleeding gums. With treatment it can be controlled, but if left untreated it can eventually lead to tooth loss. Also, recent research has shown that uncontrolled gum disease is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, strokes, uncontrolled diabetes and other illnesses. At Battersea Preventive Dental Practice we're able to offer dental implants to our patients on a private basis. Dental implants are a strong, permanent and very realistic way to replace one or more missing teeth.
Not surprisingly, they are becoming extremely popular with patients. A dental implant is a tiny titanium post which is gently placed into your jaw bone. Over time, the bone and the titanium bond together, forming a permanent artificial tooth root. We can then use this artifical root to support a crown, bridges, or even dentures, giving you a full, natural-looking smile and enabling you to eat and speak with confidence. Fillings are one of the most basic methods of restoring teeth, usually when they have been damaged by tooth decay.
