To provide the best possible service to all members of our community. Our Safer Neighbourhoods teams, response units and investigative officers are always on call to help you.
To work with our local partners to keep Wandsworth moving in the right direction for all of our communities, who live together in this proudly diverse borough.
To continue to deal robustly with prolific and persistent offenders. We will be doing this with our partners within the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), South West London Magistrates, Kingston Crown Court, the Probation Service and Drug Treatment Agencies. This work has been established and will continue throughout the year.
Detailed description:
To tackle drugs and associated crime on the borough. Since April 2005, a number of intelligence-led operations has resulted in the closure of cannabis factories, crack houses and the seizure of Class A drugs, firearms and a susbtantial amount of money made through crime.
To create a safe and comfortable environment for victims and witnesses of crime and to encourage minority groups to report crimes to police. We have a dedicated victim and witness care unit, a community safety unit dealing with all aspects of hate crime and a Sapphire team which offers a bespoke service to victims of serious sexual crime.
To reduce crime in line with the bespoke targets we have set with our Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP). This means reducing crime in ten key areas as identified as being of greatest concern to communities and as recorded annually in the British Crime Survey (BCS). These include personal robbery offences, burglary in people's homes, assault and criminal damage.
We place great importance in the concept of Partnership and neighbourhood policing and we take pride that our relationships with the local authority and other agencies in the borough are both positive and solid. We are continually looking at what we do to improve the service that we offer.
Wandsworth police consult the people of Wandsworth through a variety of forums. The Wandsworth Independent Advisory Group (IAG) is constituted to help develop a genuine partnership between Wandsworth police and Wandsworth communities. It consists of people who are brought together to provide advice to the police for the benefit of improving the quality of policing services to Wandsworth. The Wandsworth IAG consists of volunteers who are known as independent advisors and provide independent advice to Wandsworth police.
