Short profile:

Baskerville School is a special day and residential school for students aged 11 to 19 years, with autistic spectrum disorders and complex difficulties. The students cover a wide ability range. We have grown rapidly in recent years due to an increase in the population of young people with autism and other complex difficulties.

Detailed description:

The school provides a 24 hour curriculum for students who require intensive social and personal development skills training. There are lunchtime and after school clubs for all students. These include activities such as basketball, volleyball, trampoline, cycling, oudoor persuits, sailing, rockclimbing, judo, tennis, rugby, raftbuilding and horesriding.  The school has an early morning keep fit programme for students at risk of becoming overweight.

All students are offered at least one residential field trip linked to the curriculum & the students who complete the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme undertake at least two overnight expeditions.Students learn best in highly structured practical settings where students can apply the skills in real life situations. Learning activities are frequently outside of the classroom. The curriculum is enriched by visits and field trips to support learning.The school takes part in inter-school sports events and festivals.

Links with Bournville College, and the QUINZONE Construction Academy provide curriculum enrichment.The school offers a holiday scheme for one week and a joint sports week with Baskerville & Four Dwellings High School staff in the summer holidays
