BANOVALLUM SCHOOL

Banovallum School is a small, rural secondary modern school which serves the town and the local community. We have a house system, which involves students of all ages mixing together and taking part in a number of activities. We are a Specialist Science college and have received a number of awards in recent years including: Artsmark Gold Award, National Healthy Schools status, and two awards from the national Raising Attainment and Transforming Learning and Gaining Ground projects for raising standards.

The school has the very best of facilities and all classrooms and curriculum areas are furnished to a high standard. There are five Science Laboratories equipped to the highest standards, providing lecture theatre facilities for demonstration purposes. The school computer network supports three I.C.T suites and five portable trolleys containing laptops which are connected to the network using wireless technology. All computer equipment use up to date operating systems and software applications. The school has a well stocked Library that also contains a careers section.

There are three Technology workshops equipped to the highest standards. The Art facility caters for the full range of talent from digital graphics and photography with the use of Apple Mac’s to drawing and painting. The Music suite includes soundproof practise rooms and a digital recording studio. Peripatetic music teachers provide additional tuition in specialist musical instruments.

The school enjoys good sporting facilities, including football, cricket and hockey pitches, netball, rounders, basketball, badminton and tennis courts, an all-weather pitch during school hours as well as a gymnasium and hall. Athletics and cross-country are particular strengths of the school.
