BALLYMENA ENGINE SPARES LTD

The well known Ballymena motor factor recently moved to new premises in the town's Railway Street - a decade after opening at the Wakehurst Industrial Estate.

Beginning life as a supplier of heavy engine components back in 1989, the success and subsequent growth of Ballymena Engine Spares has required a change of premises in order that the business achieve it's ambition of becoming a one-stop-shop for all your vehicle parts needs.

The business had been run as an engine depot until recently, when BES started stocking a number of new lines. When the new premises became available, it was decided that it was time to take the leap into full motor factoring.

Ballymena Engine Spares Ltd. provides parts for all vehicles, including cars, commercial vehicles and agricultural vehicles, as well as a new range of heavy machinery components for off-road vehicles and earth moving equipment.

Including our new lines, our stockholding figure lies somewhere in the region of 150, 000. We have twice weekly deliveries from Motoquip, weekly deliveries from Commercial Exhausts and daily deliveries from our engine suppliers, ESD and Federal Mogul Aftermarket. Around 60% of turnover comes from the specialist engine parts side of the business, but the changing face of the industry gives us the opportunity to expand in other areas.

The increased range of product lines stocked by Ballymena Engine Spares comes as a direct result of customer demand. We are just beginning to find our way into the factoring business again. Although it helps that, as a combined staff, we have around 80 years experience between us! This fast growing staff currently comprises a travelling sales rep, a delivery van, two counter staff and a number of store staff in addition to Harry himself.
