Bakehouse was established in 1989 with a mission to bring authentic European pastries to the sceptical patriots of Britain. This, remember, was before the Channel Tunnel and the European Union, back in the days when Danish pastries in the UK were still bread-like and doughy. With hindsight it hardly seems a gamble at all, but back then Britain was a very different place.

Anyway, suffice to say the gamble paid off and after many years of double-digit growth we are now the UK’s leading supplier of authentic Continental bakery products.
