Short profile:
We aim to provide a caring environment in which children learn to respect each other and their elders and to enable the personal development of each child to proceed without hindrance. This includes the development of social and artistic skills as well as intellectual ones. We also aim to encourage interest and to help children acquire relevant knowledge.
We try to give all children as many opportunities for success as possible, because the child who is successful has something to be proud of, something to set their personal standards by. We encourage our children to care; this is not only in their work and behaviours, but also in dealings with other people.
We encourage our children to develop relationships of quality with each other and with adults. Good relationships help our children to feel secure and they need this feeling of security to achieve the greatest success.
Detailed description:
We like our children to be actively involved in what we are doing and to experience a wide range of interesting activities. Much work will start with the children ‘doing’ for example using mathematics or going on a visit in connection with the planned work.
Residential visits are available in all year groups and play a large part in helping to achieve these aims. By keeping these aims, discipline problems should be few, but where they do arise they are treated on an individual basis. If there were any serious incident or a number of less serious ones we would contact you as a parent so that we may work together to solve the problem.
It is our aim that:
Every child with special needs is identified as soon as possible after entry to school and thier needs addressed professionally.
Children who already have a statement of Special Educational Needs are integrated fully into the life of the school and are given the support to help develop them to their full potential in all curricular areas.
We give every child a sense of self worth, confidence and the knowledge that they can achieve.
Practise within school:
Special Educational Needs are covered through a two stage process. School Based Assessment is completed first and many children remain at this stage. If a child`s needs require additional support other agencies may be brought in and this is called School Based Plus. At Badsley we involve parents at each stage and invite them to attend a review of their child`s progress each term.
Equal Opportunities: All children with special Educational Needs will receive the necessary care and attention within the constraints of school life to excel in thier personal, social, educational and spiritual development. All children are welcome regardless of creed, colour, gender and ability. Outside agencies are involved as necessary. Parents are kept fully informed.
