We are one of 7 Research Councils that work together as Research Councils UK (RCUK). We are funded by the Government's Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). We regularly review our portfolio of science and our operations to ensure that we are capturing scientific opportunities and on target to meet our objectives, and to assess the quality of outputs.
Detailed description:
Forward-looking reviews of important research topics within our remit that provide advice on future directions and priorities. Wide consultation is an important element in our planning. We use it to gauge opinion, for example, on options and recommendations arising from our reviews and to inform wider policy development. Our HR vision is to make BBSRC an organisation of choice for employment and training. We do this by developing and promoting good HR practice, effectively managing performance and providing appropriate rewards and flexible development opportunities.
