So what will your child be doing at Ridgeway Day Nursery? Maybe splashing, skipping, squishing playdoh, building brick towers (and flattening them again), splodging paint, rolling, cuddling up with a book or dressing up for role-play. There is lots of opportunity to investigate the natural world, through walks to local parks or adventures in our fields. We have a large playground and lawn for plenty of energetic outdoor activity: sliding, zooming around on trikes and chasing games are popular, all with gales of laughter! Babies and toddlers have fun exploring in our cosy under 2’s unit, with plenty of scope to climb, crawl, stand and slide, as well as time to relax in quiet areas. In our over 2’s unit children find out about mathematical concepts such as big and small, full and empty, shapes and numbers through playing with sand, water, construction materials, paint, glue and scissors.

We encourage ‘reading’ by looking at books, listening and telling stories and discussing pictures, while making marks on paper, in sand and with paint are the first steps towards early writing. Transition from home to nursery is eased with up to 8 weeks of settling-in sessions, building up to include meal and nap times. An important part of the Asquith ethos is the key person who will become a reassuring face, specialise in the in-depth care and needs of both your child and you as parents, and develop a strong relationship with you all.

We have an enthusiastic approach to our Partnership with Parents and build important links through newsletters, learning journals, daily feedback and parents’ evenings. You have the peace of mind of knowing we take security seriously, with access to the nursery restricted to those with specific permission to enter.
