Short profile:
Chigwell Day Nursery offers children exciting, stimulating days of fun and discovery in the loving care of a long-standing staff team. Children are welcomed into three bright, spacious and airy rooms, where our qualified, experienced staff organise a wide variety of activities and children are free to follow their own interests. Our location within the David Lloyd Club offers the extra opportunities of tennis, swimming and music and movement classes. Our dedicated staff are committed to providing childcare of the highest standard, and more besides: children thrive as they learn through play, laughing and jumping, splashing paint and squashing playdoh. They become independent learners able to work together to solve problems using an array of materials and equipment both indoors and out.
Detailed description:
We believe children are active learners from birth. Babies have a black and white sensory area, book corner and interest tables. Nursery children love creative play and role-play, while our Pre-School Room is busy and exciting. Chigwell Day Nursery is lucky enough to be situated next to a large nature reserve and we make the most of it in all seasons for nature discovery, walks, picnics and happy play in the trees. Our own gardens have a large climbing frame, greenhouse, separate sensory garden and digging area.
Safety is critical and staff have passed a rigorous enhanced CRB check. We work closely with parents by offering home visits and settling-in sessions to smooth the transition from home to nursery. Your child will form a strong attachment with their individual key person, giving them the confidence and security to explore and develop. At Chigwell we have regular parents’ meetings where ideas from mums and dads are very welcome, and parents are often invited to take part in nursery activities.
We have introduced home learning books where children are able to take books home and share with extended families, developing their language skills, creative thinking and imagination. When children have English as an additional language, their key person will obtain library books and work with key words from their parents to help them make connections to develop their understanding. This is supported by a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator working along with staff and parents.
