Ashby Willesley Primary school is a mixed 5-11 primary school with about 350 pupils on roll.
Detailed description:
The extra-curricular activities offered this year have included: Spanish, ICT, multicultural art, performing arts, choir, recorders, War Hammer, rugby, football, multisports for Key Stage 1, gardening, lunchtime sport coaching and cross-country running. Clubs run on a termly or half termly basis. Other sporting opportunities arise during the school year when children are encouraged to improve their skills by participating in community tournaments .Instrumental tuition is offered to pupils once they reach year 4, we currently offer tuition for violin, clarinet, saxaphone, guitar, trumpet, recorder and flute.Year 5 pupils have the opportunity to attend Bike 4 Life sessions and on completion may cycle to school in Year 6 with parental consent. Residential visits include an overnight stay at Beaumanor Park in Leicestershire for Year three pupils, Year 4 are offered a two night stay in Sherwood Forest, Year 5 may join a five day residential visit to the Peak District and Year 6 are offered a visit to an outward bound centre in Mid Wales for five days.Our curriculum is supported with visits and visitors wherever appropriate.
