ASHBROOK JUNIOR SCHOOL

We run a number of lunchtime and after school sports clubs. Children can play football after school.  We have boys, girls and mixed teams which play competitively on a regular basis.We have had dance, cheerleading, kwik cricket, rounders and athletics classes this year which have been very well attended.  Many children have represented the school at inter school sports activities. We have had a  successful cricket team this term, coached by Elvaston Cricket Club through the  'Chance to Shine initiative. All children have the opportunity to have individual or group music lessons through the Derby Music Partnership.

Children have been having woodwind, brass, guitar and violin lessons. All children swim for a term at West Park Leisure Centre. We have an after school, breakfast and holiday clubs, run with the infant school with a varied programme of events.

There has been a lunchtime French club running this year and will continue next.  We will be introducing French lessons for all children from September 2007. All children have the opportunity to undertake at least one educational visit throughout the year.  The Year 6 children are given the opportunity to attend a residential visit
