Short profile:

Over 700, 000 people in Scotland have arthritis. Arthritis Care acts on behalf of people in Scotland who are affected by arthritis. We provide them, their families and friends with support, understanding, information and expertise so they can cope better with the impact of the condition and get the most out of life.

Detailed description:

Arthritis Care offers free workshops and courses to help people with arthritis learn how to cope with their condition and get the most out of life. We also provide courses to people with other long-term conditions, and run workshops to develop other people’s understanding of arthritis. Arthritis means inflammation of the joints.

Most people with arthritis will experience pain and difficulty moving around. Around 10 million people in the UK have arthritis and, like them, you can take control of your symptoms and continue to have a good quality of life.

There are over 200 kinds of rheumatic diseases – the word rheumatic means aches and pains in joints, bones and muscles. Two of the most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis(RA).
