Airflow Polish For Your Sparkly Clean Smile-
At Appledore our therapists and hygienists use the AIRFlow Handy (from EMS - a Swiss company).
This uses a sodium bicarbonate spray to remove staining and much of the hard calculus (tartar) deposits that build up on your teeth. It leaves your teeth with a smooth shiny finish and is brilliant at removing stubborn stains.
Instead of a drill we use the Crystal Mark Air Abrasion technology, which entails:
A fine spray of abrasive particles, to gently and painlessly wipe away the decayed part of your tooth. Using a special decay indicator dye we check that all your decay is removed
Once all your tooth decay is removed, we fill your cavity with one of the new generation tooth coloured filling materials, to restore your tooth's strength and appearance

These are quicker, use less radiation, and do not use polluting chemicals for developing the x-rays.
Appledore can give you a copy of your x-rays on floppy disc if you need them.
Cancer detection with Velscope at Appledore Dental Clinic. This revolutionary new light detects oral cancer.
All our surgeries have miniature colour camera systems installed. A special 'probe' which contains the lens system and a light source is used to examine in your mouth whilst you lie in the dental chair watching.
The pictures are displayed on a screen in the ceiling, so that both yourself and the clinician take part in the examination, and any dental problems can be viewed, and a diagnosis made together.
The images can be frozen and printed on photographic paper at the chair-side within a few seconds. Both our patients and the clinicians can now discuss any problems including the treatment options and agree a treatment plan to resolve the problem.
