Short profile:

My sculptures are of British wildlife and ancient Goddesses, from small to life sized, for indoor and outdoor spaces. The animal sculptures are primarily of endangered British animals or those that have made a comeback such as the wild boar, raven, wolf, moose, red kite and buzzard. They are free standing 3D sculptures and wall hanging bas reliefs, and are made from Ceramic, Bronze and bronze resin.

The Goddess sculptures include Classical Greek, Bronze age Cycladic Goddesses, Neolithic Turkish Goddesses and Neolithic Egyptian Nile Goddesses, from small to life sized, in ceramic.

My studio is open to the public 6 days a week and we welcome visitors in sunny South Devon.

Detailed description:

My figurative sculptures reflect a 25 year fascination with our earliest pre-history and of later Archaic Greek stone sculpture. I hope to widen the appreciation of ancient sculptures of women by re-interpreting them for the modern world. I am also influenced by early 20th century stone carving, the qualities of line and use of negative spaces, but coupled with the colour only really possible in 3D with ceramics.

All my ceramic sculptures are made from a combination of slab-forming, coiling, carving, press-moulding and hand modelling using Earthstone clay, crank, terracotta or my own paperclay mix. They are glazed using immensely variable stoneware glazes.

My life sized British raptors are also available in foundry Bronze and Bronze resin, as well as ceramic.
