Alwyn Richards Temporary Works Design provide scaffolding design and specialist engineering consultancy services to a wide client base.
We specialise in scaffolding design, however we also provide a host of associated services including training courses and site inspection and checking.
We have received serveral requests in recent years to act as expert witness in legal cases involving scaffolding collapse or miss-use. Similarly we have been asked to provide technical reports to determine cause of failure and potential reasoning behind it.
These cases have not arisen from our design work but have arisen as a result of individuals / companies seeking our assistance / expertise. We are happy to assist wherever we can.

Alwyn Richards Temporary Works Design is a national company with over 40 years combined design experience in temporary works and scaffolding design. We provide specialist design for a range of projects from Bridges, Viaducts and Line Crossings to Refineries, Power Stations and Petrochemical Plants. We are NASC members, have received national awards for our work and are approved designers for the five leading UK Civil Engineering contractors.
We provide our established clients with a free advice service. The nature of the scaffolding industry in the 21st century is constantly changing. The implications of the new Codes of Practice, Eurocode design methods, new CDM regulations and the importance of health and safety are all things that must be considered when designing, erecting and using scaffolding. We endeavour to provide advice and guidance to suit your circumstances so that you always have "all the bases covered".
We can provide a full inspection and checking service to all our clients. Whether it is checking a built scaffold prior to handover or inspecting specialist scaffolds periodically during the period of use; we can provide the expertise to help you deliver a quality service. We will issue certificates where appropriate to validate your scaffold to provide proof that it is built in accordance with the design or in accordance with appropriate codes of practice.
System scaffolds are becoming more popular with some contractors and clients due to their ease of erection and labour/time saving characteristics. We have in depth knowledge of a variety of scaffolding systems that we regularly provide scaffolding designs for.
