    I cannot accept the above report because firstly the staff are exceptionally polite and are there for you to ask any question on aquariums, type of fish which are complatible with the fish you might already have, or to start your own aquarium. I had great difficulties getting my quarium water to the right balance. We listened to lots of people how to get your new aquarium going, ie add some fish flake, add stress relief and it didn't get me anywhere after about 7 weeks. I was not ready to give up and asked what should I do. It was recommended that I clear everything out, wash the plants in the water from the aquarium and restart. This I did and after nearly 2 weeks I thought I was ready. So off I went to Alvenor very excited about getting my very first lot of fish. However, after taking sample water over, it was not at the level I thought it should be and was advised to do a part water change and see how it went from there because no way would any fish be sold to me when the conditions were not perfect. Being a family firm they have over 40 years of experience and in that time they have a vast knowledge to pass onto us who wish to start an aquarium. He was most adament about not selling, because after all, fish are live creatures and they should be given every attention for the benefit of their health in order that you then have this wonderful living picture which is constantly changing in your sitting room, or where you have chosen to have them. I have purchased with the help of the staff 6 fish the first week and had to wait for the ammonia and nitrite to peak and then settle, after which another water test, he agreed it was ok to pick some more. I now have 11 beautiful fishes and hope to soon go their again, as I would like to have a small shoal of fish to complete the intake. I would not go anywhere else to purchase any fish, as they know their business and what advise and most importantly how to achieve a good level for my fish. If only I had gone there in the first instance, I would have had my fishes at least 2 months earlier. I am 75 so you're never too old to learn and in so doing you have the benefit of their knowledge at any time. Just a phone call away or a ride in the car. I cannot praise this company high enough. Many thanks, you have made me a very happy woman and if anyone should happen to speak to me when they see my aquarium, then of course I will recommend that Alvenor is the place to go.

    I regularly shop at Alvenor Garden Supplies and have always found them extremly helpfull and pleasant, courteous and patient.......

    I recently perchased some fish from this store, within 24 hours 4 of those had died. I went back to the store to resolve this and the staff was very rude and their manor was apalling. I will never shop here again and wouldnt avise others to either!
