Short profile:
We provide a broad range of work and activities for our children. In addition to all the required subjects, the school offers lessons in French and a wide range of visits, visitors and clubs.
There is good provision for ICT. Investment in interactive whiteboards and laptop computers has extended opportunities for learning in the classroom.
Valuable science and sports partnerships have been established locally and secondary school staff help the school to cater for the needs of pupils with particular gifts or talents.
The programmes of education for health, social skills and citizenship are very effective in promoting the high standards in pupils' personal development. Specifically last year children participated in a very successful RE day celebrating the major world faiths, we enjoyed an ‘Eco Day’ designing and making garments from recycled materials and set up small businesses during our Young Entrepreneurs Maths week.
There is a strong emphasis on music with instrumental tuition available. Through the wider opportunities music scheme all children in year 3 learn to play the recorder. All children take part in weekly singing lessons and our choir performed at St Albans Cathedral.
