Detailed description:
Albion's predecessor was founded in Belfast in the year 1896. By 1900 the company was incorporated into a limited liability company. It had also grown from the original 20 or so machinists into a company employing more than 600 people. In 1901 the decision was taken to expand the horizons of the company to include England, and as Leeds was rapidly becoming recognised as the centre of the Clothing Industry in England, Leeds it had to be.
In 1938 both founders died yet the company carried on with the same families managing the business. New factories were built both in Ireland and in England. Capital, turnover and profitability all increased.
The original business became a Public Limited Company with its shares listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1965.
