Short profile:
Airport Bodyshop opened for business 25 years ago on the site of the old Portsmouth Airport - hence the name. We moved to Wallington Industrial Estate, Fareham around 15 years ago, offering a wide range of vehicle repair services to both individual and commercial clients. Our 12-strong team care as much about the way they do business as they do about providing the highest standards of workmanship.
As an Airport Bodyshop customer, you'll be told what needs to be done and how much it will cost. We won't blind you with science and we won't give you a nasty surprise.
Whether it's a small dent or a major prang, a bumper scuff or a full car conversion, we do our very best to make sure we only have one sort of customer - happy ones.
Detailed description:
From a supermarket car park "ding" to a major rear end collision, we have the equipment and expertise to repair it. We can repair most vehicle damage - the main exception is where the repair would compromise vehicle safety. We aim to carry out all our repairs as cost-effectively and reasonably priced as possible. Many a dent can be remedied without respraying. Large panels on vans can often be repaired without a labour intensive strip-down. Plant and Equipment (listed below) includes two JIG's to realign damaged chassis, welding systems that can save stripping the vehicle down and replicate original factory welds and painting systems that accurately match the vehicle's actual colour. We also have wheel and headlamp realignment facilities.
We offer a courtesy car service to Airport Bodyworks customers. Airport Bodyshop prides itself on its paintshop facilities and expertise. With today's paint being one of the most expensive commodities in repair work, it's important to get your respray exactly right. Paint ages and fades so it's not enough to buy in a specific colour. That's why we have no less than two water-based paint mixing systems and an intelligent paint scale linked to a paint management system to ensure the perfect match. Today's water-based paints require highly specialised plant to ensure longevity and a perfect finish.
To activate the paint's chemicals and ensure its components lock together, panels are sprayed and then baked in our low bake spray oven for 30 minutes. Skill also plays a major part in our paintshop services. That's why we can offer a customised paintwork service, painting vehicles to any owner-specified colour scheme and design. We are also in the process of trying to acheive carbon trust funding for a radical new type of paint, which uses UV technology as part of the curing process, as opposed to traditional baking. This is a considerable saving heat and burnt fuel expenditure.
