In 2001 Age Concern Leicestershire & Rutland celebrated its fiftieth year. From its humble beginning the charity has developed into the largest organisation within the Age Concern Federation. Every effort is made to respond to the needs of people from the time they retire through to the latter stages of their life. The services provided enable people to move through the different phases of old age with dignity, and the confidence that Age Concern will care for them should the need arise.So much of what has been achieved over the years is due to a committed workforce and a dedicated group of over 700 volunteers. Their help and the help of others will be greatly needed in the future. With an ever- increasing older population the challenges facing Age Concern Leicestershire & Rutland are enormous. Increased numbers of older people are requiring more intensive support in order to remain living within their own local community rather than having to enter residential or nursing care
