Short profile:
“Acu-herbs” is a shortened term encompassing both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine which are the main therapies in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Chinese herbs and acupuncture are both an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. A traditional Chinese diagnosis is with exactly the same principles, whether acupuncture or herbs are to be used. Both acupuncture and herbal medicine can be independently effective, but very often they are used together, as they are ideal complements for each other. Acupuncture is considered particularly good for moving energy blockages in the channels, and herbal medicine nourishes the body at a deep energetic level. However, their applications overlap considerably.
Detailed description:
Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the best traditional medicines in the world. Not only is it backed by more than 2000 years of clinical experience, but it also possesses a systematic theory which still guides the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine today. Traditional Chinese Medicine is the original source of both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Now conventional western medicine integrated with traditional Chinese medicine is available to treat many refractory diseases which in the past couldn’t be successfully treated by either of these in isolation. As a result, this combined approach is getting increasingly popular in the China, America and many other countries.
Medicinal Chinese herbs have been used for centuries to cure diseases and alleviate discomfort due to many different disorders.
Every herb has its own properties which include its energy, its flavor, its movement and its related meridians to which it connects too.
The four types of energies are cold, cool, warm and hot. Usually cold or cool herbs will treat fever, thirst, sore throat and general heat diseases. Hot or warm herbs will treat cold sensation in the limbs, cold pain and general cold diseases.
The five flavors of herbs are pungent, sweet, sour, salty and bitter.
If you suffer from any mild to severe organic, functional disease: or maybe a condition difficult to explain or identify: or just pre-disease symptoms; Ms Dan Jiang will diagnose and identify the imbalance creating the condition. She will then make a treatment plan and choose suitable therapies for you which may involve acupuncture, herbal medicine, a combination of the two or some alternative.
Ms Dan Jiang will make up an individualised prescription for the patient. After asking the patient about all aspects of his condition and his general health, a formula is prescribed and made up, selecting a few from the hundreds of herbs available.
