Short profile:

Our mobile sight loss information service is made up of two mobile vehicles which travel across the UK, providing up-to-date, free, impartial advice regarding sight loss. We also work with employers, educational establishments and commercial and public service providers to raise awareness of the needs of visually impaired people. This includes specialist visual awareness training. Our employment coordinators can offer help with preparing for work or retraining, finding the right job or staying in employment if you are losing your sight. They also provide specialist advice and support on starting your own business.

Detailed description:

Our independent living coordinators can offer advice on accessing day-to-day living support, housing issues, financial management, benefits and attaining self-directed support and individual budgets. They can also guide you through the process of registering as blind or partially sighted, help with day-to-day living support and provide information on the role of social services and other organisations that can help you. Our children and family coordinators support children and young people who are blind and partially sighted to enjoy full, active lives. We offer access to information, education, activities and sporting opportunities, ensuring they are well equipped for adult life and the world of work. We encourage family members of blind and partially sighted children and young people to get involved and offer activities and advice for families.
