Acorn House Residential Home was opened in 1987 and quickly became one of the most respected residential care homes within the Medway towns. Situated in a residential area, near Chatham town centre, Acorn House is within easy reach of the local amenities and public transport. The original nineteenth century house, which still retains many of its original features, has been extended to provide accommodation for twenty, and great care has been taken to ensure the safety and convinience of the residents, throughout the home.
There are ample communal areas with two large lounges, a seperate dining room, adjoined by a light and airy conservatory, which overlooks a well tended, walled garden.
Detailed description:
We have 25 dedicated, trained staff at Acorn House Residential Home, under the supervision of the home manager and supported by two senior carers. Our staff are carefully selected and are given a full induction as well as our in-house training programme. The majority of Acorn House's staff are trained to NVQ level. We place great emphasis on training and ensure our staff also attend relevant external courses, run by recognised training providers.
Our aim at Acorn House Residential Home is to provide the highest standard of care for our residents, in a safe and relaxed atmosphere, where they are looked after by trained and caring staff, in a homely and well managed environment.
We will ensure that our staff are fully trained in all aspects of care work and offer assistance and support to our residents, whilst observing each resident’s dignity, independence and individuality. Acorn House Residential Home's aim is to ensure that our residents are stimulated through regular internal and external activities. We will support and help our residents with their own pursuits and interests.
