Short profile:
Parents who are considering sending their child to this school are always welcome to make an appointment to visit us. We are proud of our school, and the pupils and staff would welcome the chance to show you around.
An welcome evening is held during the summer term for the parents of children who will be joining the Reception class the following September, as well as a number of induction activities designed to help pupils from the local pre-schools to make a smooth transition into our spacious and well resourced Reception class here at Acle.
The teaching staff are a very hard working team whose common aim is to develop sociable, confident children who enjoy the work they do and want to achieve their best. We are proud of the results achieved by our pupils.
Detailed description:
Acle St Edmund is a village primary school for children aged 4-11 years. As a church school it serves the whole community of Acle and Moulton St Mary, although we do have pupils coming to us from further afield. The school is located in a beautiful position with views over the neighbouring marshland.
The new school was built in 1988 and in September 2003 two new classrooms and a new staffroom were opened. There are nine large teaching bases in the main building, and two separate mobiles, one used exclusively for music lessons and the other for lunchtime activities and support groups. A large central hall holds the whole school for assemblies and concerts, and is equipped for gymnastics. Earlier this year we completed a building project to create a brand new school library, as well as a purpose built kitchen and additional quiet room
Our large playing field and hard playground area provide excellent opportunities for a full range of sports and play activities. Two years ago we had a bird hide installed overlooking the beautiful marshland area at the bottom of the field. There is a well resourced, separate outdoor learning area for the children in the Foundation Stage, allowing pupils to choose to play and explore beyond the classroom, in complete safety.
