Gaining major contracts from the council, things went from strength to strength. In 1978 Ace Car Hire entered the self drive hire market using two Ford Cortinas and an Austin Metro. A new expansion opportunity arose when a contract was agreed between British Rail’s Red Star parcel Service and BT. Ace Car Hire Worthing Ltd managed to purchase some of their vans, which in turn allowed them to enter the Van Rental market.

In 1969 two young and enthusiastic entrepreneurs decided to fill the winter gap in their small gardening business by purchasing two Ford Zephyrs and running them as a taxi service under the name Ace Car Hire in Market Street Worthing. Subsequently, they purchased one of the largest independent licensed Hackney Carriage companies in the Worthing area.
