Forte Theatre was recently commissioned by USA based Global Law Brigades to devise and deliver a series of Conflict Resolution workshops for the indigenous communities of Panama, Central America. A Forte Theatre workshop leader travelled to the other side of the pond as part of an ongoing program to help the communities with: Conflict, Communication skills, Active listening, Conflict de-escalation, Analysis, Creativity, and Collaboration. Forte Theatre was founded in 2004 by Danielle Scott and Miriam Irwin. They began as a performance based company and grotesque physical theatre was their stimulation and niche. On discovering that schools and colleges desired new and alternative learning methods and techniques, they embarked upon their journey of introducing unique workshop experiences to Theatre in Education and began their growth and establishment within the secondary school, college and university sectors.

In 1961 Matthew Goodwin established Hewden (Plant Hire) and Ronnie Stuart established RG Stuart Plant. Discussions commenced between the two companies in 1967 and on 16 May 1968 Hewden Stuart was born after a merger was agreed. The company continued to grow through numerous acquisitions and mergers which saw the expansion from its Scottish roots into England and Wales. By 1970 the group employed 810 people and had a turnover of £3, 611, 000. By Hewden Stuart's tenth anniversary year in 1978 they were reporting an £84m turnover with a £6.5m profit. In 1980, turnover exceeded £100m, making Hewden Stuart the first company of its kind to break this barrier. In 1988 the group encompassed seven separate divisions with 210 depots, over 70, 000 items of plant and over 3, 000 employees. The group also invested £42m in expanding and modernising its fleets.

We are a primary special school in North Birmingham where 'individuals are valued for themselves and all are expected to give of their best'. We have around 90 pupils on roll with a range of needs, including moderate learning difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs). When asked about what they enjoyed doing at school, the answers ranged from 'using the soft play and sensory room' to 'practical activities in topics'. They also thought that 'practising a lot' and 'when we can see, touch and listen' made it easier for them to learn.
