Many of our children have complex needs which affect their learning skills and result in the need for a different approach to their education. Through our ‘Partners in Learning’ mission statement we genuinely believe that we all learn from each other, old and young, and every member of our community is accepted for who they are, and what they can do, and not from what other people think they should be. I am proud to be the Headteacher of The Cedar School as I know I lead a talented and committed team of professionals who really do believe that ‘Every Child Matters.’ We are determined to problem solve around opportunities and experiences for young people to ensure they are safe, secure, and happy whilst also meeting their individual learning requirements.

They aim to provide a community which will enable all who belong to make the most of their abilities and be happy. We work particularly hard to help our students gain academic knowledge, learn practical skills and develop their power to reason. But we also try to promote learning in many other aspects of life, social, moral, spiritual, aesthetic and physical. We seek to achieve our objectives within a broad and balanced framework that gives a central place to the National Curriculum. We want our students to be keen to learn and to be able to concentrate their minds on a task. We want them to respect accuracy; to be able to handle numbers with confidence and to express themselves effectively in speech and writing. We want them to be confident in their use of modern technology. They should be able to solve problems, look for evidence, consider both sides of a question and think independently. They should be able to work effectively either as an individual or as a member of a group.
